Our First Home! (Part 1)

Hi!

Welcome to my new blog, and welcome to our home!

Here's the story of  how we found our first home.

Whilst perusing real estate on the Internet from our couch one Saturday morning in late May, 2015,  Jeremy and I came across these and other pictures, and both of us had the same feeling that maybe, just maybe, this would be the perfect first-home purchase for us. This was quite funny (not like funny "ha ha," but more like doesn't-really-make-sense funny) since literally the day before we had a serious talk during which Jeremy said we decided we would put our home search on hold since we were about to go on a two-week vacation out of the country, and who tries to search for a home to buy when preparing for your first-ever overseas vacation???
So natch we call up our realtors (yes, plural because we are fancy and high-maintenance
...or maybe because both my sister and mother are realtors, and we wanted to see the house NOW, so whomever happened to be available to meet my must-see-it-NOW demands would be the best agent for the job), and they set up a showing for the next afternoon.

So we meet our two realtors (mom and sis) with excitement and anticipation the next day, and the place quietly charms and seduces us with its well-maintained, backs-up-to-the-woods, end-unit appeal.

"Well hello, future owners. Won't you come in?" -Our current home, but when we were dating, before things got serious.
The high ceilings, many windows, open staircase and upstairs loft really got us because we are suckers for a space that tricks us into thinking we still live in a cool, loft-style apartment in the city, even if our town remind us that we DEFINITELY live in the land of chain restaurants and shopping centers.

French doors that open to a sweet patio space and large, fenced-in backyard, which backs up to Bambi's house? Yes, please!!!

"I just know I will make friends in Disney-princess fashion with all of the woodland creatures that dwell just beyond the fence, and then all my childhood fantasies will be fulfilled!" -Me, in my head, upon seeing this view in person.
The kitchen had been updated, though not entirely to our taste, but it was clean and with new stainless steel appliances, so we knew some paint would make it just right for us, and in a short amount of time and with just a little dough. We also saw the incredible potential for a dreamy renovation down the line.

And because I am tired and hungry, have to actually get real-life stuff done and because I hope I will tempt you to come back to this blog, I will leave you hanging with promises of the remainder of the story and more pictures!

Please subscribe to this blog if you want to be notified when I post Part 2 of "Our First Home."

Leave a comment, too! That's really nice and will probably make me smile.

Thanks for stopping by!

(P.S. All these pictures were pulled from the Internet and were part of the house's listing via the Trend MLS. These pictures show the previous owner's decor/staging.)
